Turn off Driver Signing in Vista 64-bit

One of the security features (PAINS) you see in Vista 64-bit is the driver signing feature. This makes it almost impossible to replace most of the systems files with modified files. Most commonly if you want to patch your TCP/IP Max Connection Limit .
You can of course disable it by Pressing F8 during system start up and selecting Turn Off Driver Signing. But then you will have to do this on every restart. So a way around this is using ReadyDriver Plus 1.1 Which was developed by someone called Uhlik.

Insert your vista boot CD into the PC, restart and go to repair installation. Open a command prompt and run the tcpip.bat file. If you've installed windows on anything but the default C:Windwos open the batch file in notepad an edit the paths to fit your installation. Not tested by me so use with cation and let me know if it works. And please remember to backup your original TCPIP.SYS file before hand so that even if you mess up you can bootup into repair mode n rectify it

hey, thx for the patch, i did exactly the same thing you say i should do everything goes fine… this is done right after installation of SP1 no newer updates installed… i reboot without driver signing and i get a max 85KB connection when i have 400KB from my provider…
one error i get though when i check event viewer and that is ID 15016, HTTPEVENT
with message inside : Unable to initialize the security package Kerberos for server side authentication. The data field contains the error number.
is this has to do something with it? how can i fix this?
By the way if you dont want readydriver to mess up the boot screen there is EASYBCD as an option… you install it and set to disable driver signing on vista boot … seems to work for me… as easy as it gets….
