@Tony Tong
Yup. Windows cannot natively format a fat32 partition which is over 32GB.

Use the fat32format software attached in the post.

format x: /fs:fat32 /q
Thanks. It works for me. /q is quick format. It format my 320G harddisk in a few seconds.
My step to do it:

1. Use the windows 's disk manager to create a 320G NTFS partition 1st and assign a drive letter x to it.

2. use format x: /fs:fat32 /q

My OS is windows 7.

@OnHd
Is G:\> drive where you have extracted fat32format.exe?
run the command from the location where the fat32format.exe file is located.

like if u extract it to C:\ then in cmd go to C:\ and then type "fat32format.exe".

Hello aadhu,
I'm using a 1TB Western Digital external, and I'm not having any luck.

This is what I'm getting:

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

G:\>fat32format.exe
'fat32format.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
