Increase Vista TCP/IP Max Connections
UPDATED CRACKS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST!!
As you may have noticed Microsoft still limits your half-open (incomplete/syn packets) connection attempts per second that the system can make. Microsoft has done this since Windows XP Service Pack 2 to keep your computer from being used by dangerous programs such as worms that scan the internet to infect more systems and to keep your computer from being a host of a Bot that connects to IRC that accepts commands to launch Distributed Denial Of Service Attacks (DDoS) against other people and companies they do not like.
Unfortunately for us and companies, this limit effects our internet by limiting the capability of P2P (Peer 2 Peer) applications like µTorrent, BitTorrent, BitComet, Azureus, BitSpirit, eMule (eDonkey network), BearShare, Direct Connect, DC++, ApexDC++, or even P2PTV such as PPLive, PPStream, Sopcast, TVAnts, Peer to Peer, Web server, FTP, and many other applications we love to use but cannot take full advantage of. Basically, you will make uTorrent faster as well as all these other apps you need.
When the limit is hit, You will recieve a Notice in Event Viewer Saying:
EventID 4226: TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts.
This means Vista Has maxed out our connect attempts.
Instructions:
- Unpack the archive and run Patch32.bat (for x86) or Patch64.bat (for x64). The patch will also give you the option to turn off UAC (User Access Control), If you don’t want to do that you can click CTRL+C and then Y to exit the patch.
- Run UndoPatch.bat to uninstall concurrent half-open TCP/IP connection limit patch, and restore the original tcpip.sys, and registry setting.
This patch increases your max half-open connections to 70,000. This can however be changed by going to RUN, and typing REGEDIT and click OK.Now navigate to : [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTcpipParameters]
“TcpNumConnections”=dword:00011170 and edit this value to whatever amount of connections you need.
Download Patch: Vista TCP/IP Patch LOOK BELOW
New Version of the patches is out for both Vista 32 and 64 bit systems. Everything is done automatically now so you just need to run the batch script to get your tcpip.sys files patched. To check your version of tcpip.sys, navigate to \Windows\System32\drivers folder, right click on tcpip.sys and select “Properties”, and the version info will be listed in “Details” pane. Then download the corresponding patch extract the contents of the archive and run InstallPatch32.bat for 32-bit systems or InstallPatch64 for 64-bit Systems. Please note that Administrator Rights Elevation is required (eg: right-click on the file and select ‘Run as Administrator”). If anyone has trouble with driver signing (ie: in 64-bit vista), open an elevated command prompt and type “bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS” without quotes n hit enter (yup double DD in disable). This shud disable it for the current session.
NOTE: If you are on 64-bit System or Vista SP1 u need to boot in safe mode. (press F8 on bootup) and apply the patches from there.

TCPIP-64[FIXED: Thanks to WeeDie] : Windows Vista SP1 (Supports 64-bit Only) [Note: Extract the archive to your computer. Insert your vista boot CD into the PC, restart and go to repair installation. Open a command prompt and run the tcpip.bat file. If you've installed windows on anything but the default C:\Windwos open the batch file in notepad an edit the paths to fit your installation. Not tested by me so use with cation and let me know if it works. And please remember to backup your original TCPIP.SYS file before hand so that even if you mess up you can bootup into repair mode n rectify it ;)] UPDATE: You have to turn of driver signing… after the patch on each reboot by holding F8. You can automate the process by using
ReadyDriver Plus v1.1.
[NEW] vistatcpipuacpatch21 EventID4226Fix for Windows Vista v2.1 for SP1 (build 18000) (32/64bit)
Installation Instructions:
Extract the archive to a directory on your computer.
Windows Vista SP1 32 bit: InstallPatch32.bat
Windows Vista SP1 64 bit: InstallPatch64.bat
Uninstallation: UndoPatch.batPlease Note! Due to Vista SP1 restriction of using signed drivers only:
Vista SP1 (32/64) requires all drivers to be digitally signed. to bypass this limitation, we use a tool called ReadyDriver Plus v1.1. after install it will bypass the blue-screen and will boot Vista normally. For those of you who wants to do it manually:
To use this driver you must press F8 at every Windows boot load. Then, in the boot menu, choose the option to disable driver signature. Vista will now boot successfuly.
